Wayne Simpson, PhD, MSc, Consulting Associate
Synopsis
Wayne Simpson has been teaching at the University of Manitoba since 1979. He specializes in the areas of Labour Economics, Applied Econometrics, Social Policy, Urban Economics, and Microeconomics. Wayne has received numerous academic honours including: Fellow and Faculty Associate - Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, Cambridge, Massachusetts; Certificate of Teaching Excellence and Merit Award (Research and Service) from the University of Manitoba; and a Canada Council Doctoral Fellowship. He is a prolific writer and has had numerous books, monographs, and articles published which acknowledge him as an authority in these areas. Most recently, he published a monograph in the area of labour markets (with Derek Hum) entitled, "Maintaining a Competitive Workforce: Employer-based Training in the Canadian Economy."
In addition to his academic career, Wayne has also had several years of experience in the public sector. He has been an Economist for Labour Canada as well as the Centre for the Study of Inflation and Productivity, Economic Council of Canada and worked as Operations Analyst at the Bank of Canada.
